    Great info. Funny, the guy you recommed for supplies is in New Jersey, I live there and would never have guessed ANY trappers existed in this, as I call it, Occupied Territory, of NJ.

    I really like this idea. But you reference the trigger wire and lock wire as “trapping wire?” What is that and where can it be obtained?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper 7 днів тому

      It’s just annealed wire so it will bend easy and not break.

    How do you compare the Fire N Bone to the Triple X?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper 9 днів тому

      Big brother vs little brother. Virtually the same, just one is bigger, thicker and stouter. The Triple X also has a more stout, piercing point.

  • @qlwellness
    @qlwellness 10 днів тому

    Curious if you have messed with the WC fieldlore. Seems like it might have the master bushman and some of the triple x wrapped together. You think flat portion is enough for skinning?

    • @Meattrapper
      @Meattrapper 10 днів тому

      I looked long and hard at the Fieldlore. In the end I decided it simply didn’t have enough belly to be an effective skinner so I passed.

      @qlwellness 9 днів тому

      @@Meattrapper Thanks for response. I like the tooth and scandi portion, but an looking for a some food prep and carving with possibility of some skinning if needed. Of all current developed models you would say triple X is that? How is it for slicing food prep if necessary?

    Awesome video! I have a raccoon and groundhog (and deer!!) infestation. Just bought a Duke 220 body trap, safety gripper, set tool, and a KB body trap stabilizer. Nothing comes with instructions and I'm totally unfamiliar with these devices. I got the trap set ok but the KB stabilizer had me stumped......until I watched your video. Even though you did not demo this stabilizer, once I saw the methods you did go over, I instantly got it. Thanks so much, just subscribed.

    Instead of the replacement clips use a piece of 1/4" flat steel and cut a groove to make your clip, then cable one to each trap.

    Like your video on b& L traps been river trapper for many years Have used just about every long spring trap made including some new house which is the Cadillac of long springs But my go to traps where the Blake& Lamb brand if taken care of they would stay strong they have powerful springs that never seem to weaken You are doing the young guys a favor by telling them about the older traps!! And I certainly agree with you there's nothing in the world wrong with the old long spring traps 👍✌️

    Thanks Meat Trapper, I've never heard your 1st name or I would've used it.... As for myself, I enjoy all of the videos you've put out so far; I'm learning alot from your stuff... I'm an arm amputee & enjoy being outdoors aswell, Alabama is my home State also, I've lived in Georgia for quite sometime. I also do whatever I can to feed my family.... I also think & believe you're SPOT ON with your Poaching video!! You're absolutely correct especially with the Government & Contractors, thinking everything is fine if We as a whole throws Enough $$ their way !! We & all the Wildlife need to keep as much Natural Environment as Possible!! Thanks for all you do Good Sir , Keep it Up

    when you say it doesn't matter what size cable, is that because less leverage by being caught around the foot? so I could use smaller than normal on deer or goats?

    I stepped into a snare trap when walking in the forest, it pulled my foot up and I lost balance. Its must have been made for a large animal as it was very strong. It was difficult to escape cos my smooth soled boot kept slipping on the damp sloping and leafy ground, stopping me from standing up. I wore the wrong footware, not expecting to slip in a trap.

    Yes, I miss that country too… Used to be the marketing strategy was build the best item you could and people will buy it.… But now it’s all profit driven with the eye on quarterly shareholder reports so in an ever expanding effort to increase profitability some of the larger manufacturers Have gone to lesser grade steel replaced steel with plastic or polymer you get the picture… Just like the notion of built-in obsolescence with appliances used to be you’d get a refrigerator or a washer in the dryer that would last you 20 years now you’re swapping them out in five

    I noticed you put a "kink" at the terminal end of your cable, next to the lock. Would you please educate me as to why you do this? I've always run the lock end of the cable, through the lock just opposite they way you do. I don't have any need for putting any kink in the cable, and I get very nice loop shape even before loading them. So, I must be missing something, and I would really like to know what benefit you are gaining by kinking the cable. Thanks so much for you feedback!!

      @@Meattrapper I read Ragnar's poaching book dozens of times and they helped me put food on the table despite commiefornia anti-everything laws! Only problem with Ragnar's books, they are super outdated as far as technology goes, so I look forward to reading a more up-to date book on the subject!!!!
